5 Awesome Competitive Beach and Party Games

Hello! While vacationing in Florida for my sisters wedding in November, I came across a few new, fun and unique competitive games that we were playing on the beach and in the ocean. Those games prompted a discussion of the fun and competitive games that we have played on the beach or at a party in the past.

Naturally, those games needed to be rated.

For this gaming list we are going to put aside the classics of Football, Volleyball, Frisbee and Wiffle Ball (they are classic to us)

Top 5 List of Competitive Beach and Party Games

5. Cornhole : This is a party game that can be played anywhere and often, especially where I am from.

  • Players: 4
  • Products required: 1 set of cornhole boards and eight cornhole bags (pictured below).
  • Rules: Games are played to 21, must win by 2 and you receive 3 points for tossing the bag into the hole and 1 point for landing the bag on the board. Points cancel each other out and each teammate stands on the opposite cornhole board from their partner

4. Ladder Golf: Another game that can be played on the beach or at your next party. This game is competitive and challenging.

  • Players: 4
  • Products required: 1 set of ladder golf stands and eight bolas (2 golf balls with a string attached).
  • Rules: Games are played to 21, must win by 2 and you receive 3 points for tossing the bola on the bottom bar, 2 points for tossing the bola on the middle bar and 1 point for tossing the bola on the top bar. Points cancel each other out and each teammate stands on the opposite cornhole board from their partner

3. Floating Poker: This is a great gambling game that provides the flexibility to be taken from the house into the pool or on a sandbar in ocean to be played.

2. Bear Pong: This is a great spin off of the classic Beer Pong, only this utilizes 5 gallon bucks with sand in them and a ball. Drinks optional

  • Players: 4
  • Products required: 12 – 5 gallon buckets and 2 balls
  • Rules: Each team must throw the ball and land it in one of the buckets to point. Once the ball has landed in the bucket the buket is removed. Teams play to anywhere between 11-21 depending on the skill level, distance and time constraints.

And the number 1 voted game…

1. Bocce Ball: This is one of those games that can be played in the lawn but is in it’s natural habitate beach. It’s a nice mixture of skill and luck to make the game competitive and fun! This game has stood through time and gaming trends.

  • Players: 2-4
  • Products required: Bocce Ball set and some room to throw
  • Rules: A ‘marker ball’ is thrown out into an open area. The person who throws the ball closet to the ‘marker ball’ is considered to be on the inside and closest to the marker. the objective is to get the balls closest to the marker ball to point.

Please note that the games are not tied direclty to drinking(i.e. flip cup), I’ll follow up with that Top 5 list on another blog.

You gotta get up, to get down!
